At least 87 teachers from refugee, internally displaced and host communities in and around Makpandu in Western Equatoria state are set to undergo an intensive English course aimed at strengthening their classroom teaching, communication and professional skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training, running from September to December 2026, is being implemented by the National Ministry of General Education and Instruction in partnership with Windle Trust International, bringing together teachers from South Sudan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and surrounding host communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beneficiaries include teachers from South Sudan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and host communities around Makpandu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rev. Paul Baibai Kurakpio, a Master Trainer with Windle Trust International and a pastor at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Makpandu Refugee Settlement, returned to Yambio on Tuesday ahead of the second block of the Training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul said that they participated in a 10-day Intensive English Course for Teachers in Juba, which was conducted as part of preparations for the next phase of the Training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the media upon his arrival at Yambio Airstrip on Tuesday, Rev. Baibai said the initial training in Juba was successful and preparations were underway for the commencement of Block Two on September 21, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis training will benefit teachers who are already in their duties. The training will run from 21 September to December 2026. Block One has already completed the same training, and now we are going to continue with the same teachers but with different skills,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Rev. Baibai, the second block will be conducted within Yambio County, with the training center expected to be in Bangasu, Makpandu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the Training is designed as a continuing professional development initiative, with a third block planned for next year to further strengthen the teachers’ skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not the end of the training. Next year, we will still have Block Three training for our teachers so that they can perform their duties for our future generations,\u201d Baibai said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Master Trainer urged the participating teachers to remain committed throughout the Training and to apply the knowledge and skills gained in their classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He described teachers as some of the most important members of society, saying their work is critical to preparing future generations and contributing to the development of communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rev. Baibai also thanked the National Ministry of General Education and Instruction and Windle Trust International for their partnership and continued support towards strengthening teachers’ capacity in Western Equatoria State and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IEC Training is expected to equip participating teachers with additional English-language and teaching skills that can improve the quality of education for learners in refugee, displaced and host communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
