Cabinet approves over 1 million dollars for second edition of EAC games

Michael Makuei Lueth, the national minister of information, communication, technology and postal services, said the minister of youth and sport Albino Bol made the request for money to facilitate the team of South Sudan at the upcoming games to be held in Kigali, Rwanda from the 20th to the 30th of November 2023.

 The council of ministers approved on Friday 1.24 million U.S dollars for the second edition of the East African Community (EAC) Games.

Michael Makuei Lueth, the national minister of information, communication, technology and postal services, said the minister of youth and sport Albino Bol made the request for money to facilitate the team of South Sudan at the upcoming games to be held in Kigali, Rwanda from the 20th to the 30th of November 2023.

Makuei said a team of more than 100 people will head to Kigali for the games.

He said the minister of finance has already been directed to avail funds for the team.

Makuei said participation in these games means exposing the people of South Sudan to people from other African countries and the world.

The first edition of the East African Community games were held in Bujumbura, Burundi in 2018 and South Sudan did not take part.
