The leader of the People’s Liberal Party under the other political parties (OPP) umbrella grouping has criticized national security service for acting with high handedness after they disrupted rallies in Bor.

Peter Mayen Majongdit, said their recent youth convention in Bor was on Tuesday interrupted by security agents.

“I was arrested in Warrap State by one of the security personnel from Bor community, which proves all the Bor community in national security in South Sudan, are against OPP movement,” Majongdit told journalists in Bor town.

He said several South Sudanese are not aware of provisions within the 2018 revitalized peace agreement, adding they are trying to raise awareness about this but are instead being harassed and obstructed by security agents.

Majongdit said the parties to the peace agreement are not committed to implement it in letter and spirit.

“The agreement is absolutely not being implemented to be honest, if the agreement is being implemented the position that belongs to OPP which is the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management has been taken away from us,” he said.

Majongdit was relieved by President Salva Kiir as the national minister of humanitarian affairs and disaster management in November 2022. He was replaced by the current minister Albino Akol Atak.

“Opportunists misled the President to relieve me from the ministry, when I met the president he clearly told me that I am not aware that the current minister of humanitarian affairs is not from your party,” he said.
