Police should combat rising wave of crime ahead of festive season

Hard core criminals are on rampage of late around Juba. Several murders targeting mobile money operators have been reported and yet the criminals who are armed appear to evade arrest.

The South Sudan national police services now headed by the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Atem Marol Biar should immediately take serious measures to provide security for civilians and their properties.

We commend the IGP for cracking down on notorious panga wielding youth commonly known as niggers. If the police remain complacent and passive, many lives will be lost as we have so far witnessed at the moment.

Criminals have been emboldened to attack businesses in broad day light knowing they will get away with it either due to the complicity of some corrupt police officers.

The IGP needs to shake up the leadership of the police force is to have any chance of combating crime, because his force appears to be infiltrated by criminals.

Juba is currently among the most insecure cities in Africa due to the insecurity posed by machete wielding youth and also organized crime.

The festive season could turn out to be worse if immediate measures are not undertaken to stop criminals.
