President Salva Kiir Mayardit is expected to discuss peace and security in the region on the sideline of the UN Climate Change Conference in the United Arab Emirates.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramadan Mohamed Abdalla Goc said President Kiir who left Juba on Thursday will discuss regional peace and security, including the crisis in Sudan on the sideline of the annual United Nations Conference on Climate Change.

COP28 will mark a milestone as the world takes stock of its progress on the Paris Climate Agreement.

The climate summit is expected to facilitate efforts to align climate action and address gaps in progress on the Paris Climate Agreement.

The conference provides an opportunity for world leaders to join their efforts to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and protecting nations that are most vulnerable to climate change, many of them in the global South.
