SSRC raises hope among school girls by providing them with dignity kits

South Sudan Red Cross (SSRC) has been busy distributing dignity kits to school girls across the country.

The dignity kits have increased school enrolment among girls in remote areas across the country, according to John Lobor, Secretary General of SSRC.

“We have seen that there has been high level of attendance of school girls compared to the time before these dignity kits were being distributed. This increased enrolment is quite very positive and this program is running in almost all the states in South Sudan,” Lobor said during the media workshop organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and SSRC in Juba on Friday.

Lobor said that they are also educating local communities on hygiene.          

He said that are rolling out the support to schools girls particularly in the states of Eastern Equatoria and Warrap state.

Lobor said that in Maridi of Western Equatoria state they are supporting a number of school girls there.

 He said that apart from providing dignity kits they also have food security and livelihood programs  In places like Yambio that have led to improved food production at household level, thus building community resilience.
