"We Dare where others fear"
Chapter 5 of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement should not be left redundant by the parties within the transitional government.
Past events starting from December 2013 and then July 2016 have left scars in the hearts of many South Sudanese. Implementing chapter 5 of the peace agreement that calls of healing and reconciliation and establishment of transitional justice and accountability mechanisms for reconciliation and trial of war crimes is crucial if the people of South Sudan are to live in peace.
The problem is that politicians think of only their interests, as they know that any war crime court could end up at their door step.
South Sudanese are not yet united after the horrific crimes committed during years of brutal fighting. Healing and reconciliation is not an event but a process that requires national consensus and not the will of few individuals.
The earlier this is understood and prioritized the better for South Sudan.
