The Council of Ministers on Friday agreed to set up a committee to follow up and discuss some of the projects with the United Arab Emirates.

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Michael Makuei Lueth said that cabinet  decided to establish the committee after listening to the Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster, Gen. Taban Deng Gai following his recent visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Deng during his visit held discussion with officials in the Gulf state on investment opportunities, especially in the infrastructure sector and also the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

“It was agreed that there should be a committee set up to follow up on some of these resolutions of those meetings. So a committee will be set up to receive the delegation that would be coming from the United Arab Emirates to South Sudan, and from there they would come up with bankable projects that can be funded when the team comes,” said Makuei during press briefing in Juba.

He said that cabinet also listened to a report from the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Presidential Affairs on the visit of the President to UAE and Arusha.

“The two ministers made a report on the meetings of His Excellency, the President while he was in Arusha or the United Arab Emirates, and this is where he had a lot of meetings and it is agreed that there should be committees set up, and it is expected that at present the committee will be coming to address that situation so that they come and sit down and plan on the mutual relations and cooperation among the two sisterly countries,” said Makuei.
