The Governor of Lakes state Rin Tueny Mabor has thanked the civil population of Rumbek for maintaining peace during the two years since he was appointed in 2021.
Mabor was speaking on Monday while delivering Christmas message during prayers in Rumbek to the citizens of Lakes state.
He also heaped praise on President Salva Kiir Mayardit for tarmacking the Juba-Terekeka-Rumbek road.
Mabor said that GS Company will start construction and rehabilitating of feeder roads within Rumbek town.
He said road connectivity will boost water and electricity connection in Rumbek town.
Mabor disclosed that his government is ready to help mediate peace between Twic Mayardit community of Warrap state and Dinka Ngok of Abyei Administrative Area following recent deadly clashes over land.
He also said they will resolve the conflicts between Apuk and Tonj.
The Governor of Warrap state Kuol Muor Muor said that Pope Francis’s visit should inspire all South Sudanese to work for peace and unity in the country.
Agok Makur, Deputy National Minister of Finance said that people of Lakes state are proud of the leadership of Governor Rin Tueny Mabor after he improved peace and security across the state.
