The Governor of Lakes State Rin Tueny Mabor has pledged to support his counterpart in Warrap State to restore peace and stability.
Rin Tueny Mabor has been praised for his successful effort to restore calm and tranquility in the once restive Lakes state since he was appointed Governor in 2021.
“We are on a peace mission, we know this region is in trouble and so we are joining our brothers as a government and people to sort out our crisis such that our people live in peace,” Mabor was quoted by the State Television (SSBC) during his visit to Kuajok on Tuesday.
Mabor said that Warrap State needs peace and stability to move forward.
“On behalf of our people, the government of Lakes we need peace, we are at peace and we need peace here and that is why I am here with the deputy chairperson of the SPLM. Whatever we can deliver to our people in my capacity as a person or as a governor I am ready,” he said.
For his part, Kuol Muor Muor, Governor of Warrap State welcomed Mabor’s promise to work with him to restore peace and security in his state.
“They are concerned about what is going on in Warrap State and they said the state where the President was born should be in peace and they say they will join hands with me to bring peace,” said Muor.
He said law and order would be restored in the state.
“I want to tell the citizens of South Sudan, Warrap and Bahr el Ghazal that with the support of Awet and Janafin, peace will prevail,” said Muor.
Warrap state remains mired in violence that is characterized by cattle raiding and land conflict with neighboring Abyei Administrative Area and Lakes state.
