Warrap Youth leader says presence of peacekeepers will fuel conflict between Ngok and Twic

The continued presence of the United Nations Interim Force for Abyei (UNISFA) around Southern Kiir River is bound to fuel conflict between Ngok Dinka and Twic Mayardit community of Warrap state, according to a youth leader.

Santino Wol Aguer, the Chairperson of Warrap state youth union on Thursday said that UNISFA has been taking sides in the conflict between the two communities.

“I believe UNISFA are not neutral in the conflict between Twic Mayardit and Ngok Dinka, UNISFA forces when they are patrolling in the morning and evening you will see armed  youth from Abyei coming behind  to attack Twic Mayardit in their presence,”  said Aguer in an interview.

Aguer said that UN peacekeeping force has lacks neutrality in the conflict between Twic Mayardit and Ngok Dinka.

He appealed to the Warrap state government and the national government to deploy South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) in Southern Kiir River to the protect civilians from both sides.

Aguer added that the Warrap state youth union members are now demanding the evacuation of UNISFA from Southern Kiir River to Abyei Center.
