"We Dare where others fear"
Education is the key to success in life and it is capable of transforming families and entire villages.
Gabriel Roric Jur, 65, was recently among the few students to graduate with PhD at the University of Juba.
Despite his old age he managed to acquire his doctorate in peace, development arts and humanitarian studies.
His triumph should inspire many young South Sudanese who no longer see education as a means to success. Roric has already worked in reputable organizations and various government institutions and yet he remains humble and focused on the realities of life.
Besides acquiring his PhD, Roric is now planning to devote his time and energy to write books that will impact his country men and women. In addition, he hopes to use his personal struggles and success to motivate other people to work hard and realize their dreams.
South Sudan is facing a myriad of problems and education is one of the major pillars that will help transform lives of South Sudanese.
Roric’s accomplishment should also motivate the government and parents to encourage education at all levels of society.
