IGP directs police in Lakes to send 1000 officers for refresher training

The Inspector General for Police (IGP) Gen. Atem Marol Biar on Tuesday directed the police commissioner for Lakes state Maj. Gen James Madut Ngor to select 1000 officers below 50 years to attend refresher training.

The Inspector General for Police (IGP) Gen. Atem Marol Biar on Tuesday directed the police commissioner for Lakes state Maj. Gen James Madut Ngor to select 1000 officers below 50 years to attend refresher training.

He said the training is aimed at preparing the officers selected from different states to oversee the upcoming general election in December 2024.

For his part, Lt. Gen James Duop Gatluak, Assistant IGP for training said that the 1,000 police officers from Lakes state are those on the payroll system, adding the reason why he came to Rumbek town was to assess the number of forces on the ground.

Gatluak applauded Lakes state government officials for the warmly reception and the fruitful meeting held with Governor Rin Tueny Mabor and his security officials.
