"We Dare where others fear"
The Governor of Warrap State Kuol Muor Muor is planning to investigate the recent death of the Deputy Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area after it was alleged that he was ambushed by armed youth from Twic community of Warrap state.
“In regards to the recent incident that led to the death of the Deputy Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area, the allegations have been leveled against Twic armed youth particularly Twic Titweng. Therefore, the Governor is planning to form a fact finding committee in order to investigate the allegation,” said William Wol Mayom, the Warrap State Minister of Information and Communication in an interview with The Dawn .
Noon Deng Nyok, the Deputy Chief Administrator of Abyei was killed in an ambush on December 31st alongside five other people at Wunpeth, near Agok.
He said that the Government of Warrap state is committed to peace and he is optimistic that peace will come between the communities in the state and the neighboring community.
“First of all, we are committed to peace as Warrap State government and soon we have many plans in order to resolve the issue, the issue need cordial efforts and supervision from the national government, one of the important aspect as government of Warrap state Is the deployment of the SSPDF forces at the borders”
He said the challenges facing the deployment of SSPDF forces is that they are being attacked by the army youth of Abyei Area.
Mayom also disclosed that there are some elements in the middle that are supposed to be handled by the national government.
The Commissioner of Twic County in Warrap State Simon Aguek Chan in a statement denied the involvement of Twic Titweng armed youth in the killing of the Deputy Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area.
“The Twic County authority has condemned in strongest terms possible the allegation spread by Abyei Special area for accusing Gai Machiek and Titweng armed”
He said that Gai Machiek and Titweng armed youth did not take part in the killing.
He alleged that the killers are Nuer armed militants hired by Abyei Special Administrative Area to fight the Twic community.
On Monday, local authorities in Abyei Administrative Area called on the national government to investigate the killing of the Deputy Chief Administrator of Abyei.
Bulis Koch Aguar, Minister of Information in Abyei Administrative Area denounced the killing of the Deputy Chief Administrator and five of his colleagues between Wun-peth and Waueshin areas.
“The government of Abyei Special Administrative Area condemns in the strongest terms possible the barbaric killing and targeting of government officials by tribal militias and calls upon the national government and all the security organs to immediately investigate this crime and bring perpetrators into book,” said Koch.
The Embassies of Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States have also condemned the latest attack in the Abyei Administrative Area.
“The use of violence as a tool for political or economic competition perpetuates a dangerous cycle and must be universally rejected by all South Sudanese leaders. This attack and all other incidents of violence should be investigated, and perpetrators held accountable” said a joint statement issued by the Troika countries.
