The Secretary General of the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) Peter Lam Both has said that they are planning to provide medical insurance for party members in a bid to ease burden of medical treatment cost.

“The last two or three years, we had a lot of people who got sick and we do not have capacity to send them for treatment, so we are resolving this year that we have to revive our health insurance so that you can have a good coverage,” Both told journalists on Monday at the SPLM national secretariat in Juba during new year celebration.

He said they plan to partner with New Sudan Insurance to provide insurance coverage.

Both revealed that the SPLM has scheduled the endorsement of President Salva Kiir Mayardit in Equatoria and Upper Nile regions.

“The national secretariat has been operating without budget, as a national secretariat we must have a budget this year so that we are able to adequately address some of our challenges,” said both.

The SPLM has already endorsed it’s chairman President Salva Kiir to contest the upcoming 2024 national elections scheduled for December 2024.
