IGP Directs Police state commissioners to provide 1000 police personal for training

The Inspector General of Police, Gen Atem Marol Biar Kuek has directed all state police commissioners to select and send 1000 police personnel for training that will take place soon for the duration of three months.

The Inspector General of Police, Gen Atem Marol Biar Kuek has directed all state police commissioners to select and send 1000 police personnel for training that will take place soon for the duration of three months.

 Lt. Gen James Duop, the Assistant IGP  for Training upon arrival of IGP Marol from the tour and inspection of police forces in Greater Bar El Ghazal told journalists on Wednesday in Juba that Marol acquainted himself with all the challenges the police are facing in the region.

He said that the IGP directed all police commissioners to send in 1000 police personal from each state to be trained such that they carry out their work diligently as mandated by law.

 

“In the tour to Greater Barh El Ghazal region, the IGP directed all the police commissioners in the states to provide 1000 police personnel to go for training, the training will take three months, the IGP has seen that the police forces need training such that they go on with their mandate as police for providing protection to people,” said Duop.

Duop said that the police forces in the states come from different background and they need to be trained to protect people and their properties from where they are working.

 He said that the police forces that were trained and graduated recently among the unified forces will be the ones in charge of elections and also protection of the civil population during that period.

“We have completed the tour in Barh El Ghazal region in all the states of Lakes, Western Barh El Ghazal, Northern Bahr Ghazal and Warrap  state and the security situation is calm with exception of Warrap state where there is some violence,” said Duop.

Duop said that they spent 10 days in Greater Barh El Ghazal region and they witnessed the security situation and challenges facing the police forces and the community.

“We have  listened to them and how they are cooperating  with the state government, we have completed the tour today and in the coming days we are going to tour Greater Equatoria region and all three administrative areas, we are going to monitor all the directives  given to all police commissioners in all those states,” he said.
