Members of the Nasir Community Development Committee have urged the local population to wait for the court in Juba to resolve their disagreement over the management of 45 percent of the 3 percent of the oil revenue share.
John Dang Banygach, a member of the Nasir Community Development Committee representing Wechnyot payam told The Dawn on Thursday that some of the members of the committee charged with managing the oil revenue have opened a case against their chairman Dak Tap Chuol Mabor over the mismanagement of the oil revenue share.
“We had disagreement in the committee, the case was opened against the chairman on Friday, he was arrested on Saturday, the police said that they have referred the case to court, the judiciary of South Sudan will decide which court will handle this thing,” said Benygach in Juba.
“What we are coming to do is to inform the community, our community is everywhere, we want them to know and be patient because the case is under way in the court, when the court finishes we will let you know,” he added.
Benygach appealed to the national ministry of finance and the central bank to freeze the account of Nasir County following the misunderstanding among the committee members.
He accused chairman Chuol of lack of transparency and accountability to the community on the income and the projects.
The national government allocates 3 percent oil revenue share on monthly basis to oil producing areas.
Otong Koang, another member of the community development sub-committee said that the disagreement started in June 2023, adding that attempts to resolve it outside court failed.
“In the committee, there had been disagreement that was on since June 2023, some people intervened and tried to manage the argument, it was not in their control, we decided to open a case against the chairman, the argument has forced us to reach to police,” said Koang.
“The chairman was humiliating other members of the committee, he suspended and dismissed some of the committee members by his own will, there is no rule or any law that authorizes the chairman to dismiss or suspend any member of the committee,” he added.
Dak Tap Chuol Mabor, the Chairman of Nasir Community Development Committee said that members of the committee opposed to him are trying to defame him.
“This case has no merit but I told the public prosecutor to forward it to court so that they can prove their allegation in court of law, it has to be forwarded to court because they do not even show up there to follow the case, they are just trying to defame me,” said Mabor.
” The persecutor know this people are lying, they want to defame me, this case will go to court and I will open a new case against them, if you write anything then I will take you together with them to court”
