"We Dare where others fear"
The conflict between Twic Mayardit community of Warrap state and Ngok Dinka of Abyei Administrative Area over boundary and land needs to be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
Several people have died including soldiers in this unending brutal conflict that has put sacrs on many people.
President Salva Kiir’s recent order calling local leaders to hold dialogue should be heeded.
The order directs security forces to summon leaders for questioning and arrest if they are seen to incite violence between the two communities.
The long-awaited referendum on Abyei Administrative Area needs to be expedited by the African Union in order to integrate the Ngok Dinka into the country of their choice.
Some people within Twic community often infuriate the Ngok Dinka by claiming they don’t belong to South Sudan. This can only be stopped if the Ngok Dinka are given opportunity to vote to belong to the country of their choice, which is South Sudan.
The transitional unity government should help mediate peaceful end to the conflict between the two communities with the help of their local leaders.
