The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) on Thursday donated four vehicles to three government institutions including the King of Azande Kingdom to ease their movement.
Juliette Murekeyisoni, UNHCR Deputy Representative to South Sudan said that the vehicles are donated to the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Ministry of Peacebuilding and the Azande King Atoroba Peni Rikito.
“All these cars will be supporting the program that we have with those four institutions,” Juliette told The Dawn during the handover ceremony held in Juba.
For his part, Atoroba Peni Rikito, Azande Kingdom hailed the UNHCR for its kind support.
“In this means of transport, we will only be seeing the face of Juliette in it because she is the one who has brought it and there will be so many people at your back,” King Rikito said.
Pia Philip Michael, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Peacebuilding said that the vehicle will help the ministry to build social cohesion between returnees and the host communities.
“We are happy to have received from the UNHCR Country office here in South Sudan that is going to support our work of peacebuilding,” Philip said.
Kuyok Abol Kuyok, Undersecretary of the Ministry of General Education and Instruction said that the vehicle will help to ease the movement of staff.
“This car is going to support education in a sense that it will help to facilitate the movement of colleagues in the ministry, there is a unit called management, and Information system (MIS) which deals with data and the car is going to be with MIS,” Kuyok said.
