President Kiir meets Hemedti, calls for immediate cessation of hostilities in Sudan

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called for immediate cessation of hostilities between the warring parties in neighboring Sudan.

This came during the meeting on Saturday with the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo commonly known as Hemedti in Kamapla, Uganda.

According to a statement on the Facebook Page of the Presidential Press Unit, President Kiir reiterated his government’s commitment to supporting the peace process led by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) toward the resolution of the Sudanese conflict through dialogue.

He urged the RSF leader to accept dialogue in order to find an amicable solution to the crisis in  Sudan.

President Kiir also appealed for immediate opening of humanitarian corridors for basic services to reach the Sudanese people.
