The opposition Common Peoples Alliance (CPA) announced on Wednesday that it will embark on a massive grassroots mobilization campaign to attract members to the party as it prepares to register ahead of the 2024 general election.
“In light of this momentous development, the CPA calls upon our leaders, members, and the people of South Sudan to prepare for extensive mobilization and registration campaigns,” Deng Bol Aruai Bol, the Chairman of CPA said in a statement issued in Juba.
This development comes in the aftermath of the reconstituted Political Parties’ Council announcing the start of the registration exercise for unregistered political parties across the country.
“Let us unite, mobilize our endeavors, register as members and prepare to actively participate in the forthcoming elections or at the very least, establish a registered political party,” Bol said.
He said the objective of the mobilization campaign is to register a minimum of 500 members per state and administrative area.
“We extend our invitation to individuals residing in the Bomas, Payams, Counties, and States, urging them to express their interest in becoming our political mobilization and registration officers on the ground,” Bol said.
Bol said that through collaborative efforts, they could fortify their presence across the country and leave an indelible mark on the political landscape of South Sudan.
“In the spirit of unity and cooperation, the CPA is actively exploring opportunities to unite with other small parties under a single umbrella, forming a formidable alliance before the registration process,” he said.
Bol said that they remain confident in achieving a resounding victory if the elections are held as planned in December 2024.
“Together, we will lead South Sudan from 2025 and beyond, bestowing upon our beloved nation the dignity and peace it so rightfully deserves,” he said.
