Governor of central Bank promises to support agriculture in Lakes state

The Governor of the Bank of South Sudan (BOSS) Dr. James Alic Garang on Friday promised to support agri-businesses in Lakes state and other parts of the country.

The Governor of the Bank of South Sudan (BOSS) Dr.  James Alic Garang on Friday promised to support agri-businesses in Lakes state and other parts of the country.

Garang revealed the central bank’s master plan includes tarmacking of the road connecting Rumbek Airport connecting to the branch of the central bank in Rumbek town.

The construction of the branch of the apex bank started in 2012 under a Chinese company which was succeeded by Nelsco Company.Nelsco is about to complete construction of the branch of the central bank.

The Governor of Lakes state Rin Tueny Mabor said that civil servants are suffering as they have gone for nearly five months without salaries, adding that the abundance of cheap of food is what is sustaining the civil servants.

He appealed to governor of the central Bank to lobby for supplementary budget for the states.

Changkuoth  Bichiok Reth,  the chairman of finance committee in the national revitalized transitional legislative assembly said that they pressured the national minister of finance and economic planning Bak Barnaba Chol to release salaries  of civil servants for August and September 2023 after he appeared before law makers for questioning in Juba.

He called for the cleaning of the government payroll of ghost workers.

Paul Mayom Akec, a member of the national transitional legislative assembly praised Governor Rin Tueny Mabor for ushering in improved security that has enabled farmers to cultivate food in the state.

 Akec emphasized that South Sudan is capable of feeding neighboring countries if it utilizes it’s vast land to grow food.

The Lakes state minister of finance Majok Anhiem Dhal called on the governor of the central bank together with the national minister of finance and economic planning Bak Barnaba Chol to release the salaries of August till October for civil servants.
