Former Governor of Lakes state Chut laid to rest in Rumbek East

The late former Governor of Lakes State Matur Chut Dhuol was on Monday buried at his ancestral home in Pacong Payam of Rumbek East County in Lakes State.

The late former Governor of Lakes State Matur Chut Dhuol was on Monday buried at his ancestral home in Pacong Payam of Rumbek East County in Lakes State.

The Governor of Lakes State Rin Tueny Mabor described Chut as a brave man who sacrificed a lot during the liberation war that paved the way for the independence of South Sudan in 2011.

The Deputy Minister of Interior, David Marial Gumke said that Chut was an independent-minded leader who was committed to whatever official assignment he was given.

 Gumke thanked President Salva Kiir Mayardit for according Chut’s proper burial in his ancestral home.

He said President Salva Kiir supported the airlifting of Chut’s body to Rumbek East County from Juba.

 Santo Malek Anai, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Secretary for Political Affairs said that Chut’s legacy will be remembered as a loyal member of the SPLM party.

Chut died on Tuesday, last week after battling a long illness. He was at the rank of general in the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces.

The burial ceremony was attended by Ruben Madol Arol, the National Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, former Inspector General of Police Majak Akec, Ambassador Malek Ruben and the Deputy Minister of Finance Agok Makur and other state officials.
