The anticipated reception of the newly appointed Director General for the Directorate of Nationality, Civil Registry, Passport, and Immigration Maj. Gen. Simon Majur Pabek that was scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed to Thursday to allow the Minister of Interior to brief him before taking over the office.
“They have amended the law and there is no swearing in any more for all the directors, director of Customs or director of immigration because the law has already been amended,” Brig. Mangar Aping, Acting Director for Administration and Finance told journalists in Juba.
He said that the incoming immigration boss will officially take over the office on Thursday in a reception ceremony expected to be graced by the Inspector General of Police Gen. Atem Marol Biar.
“He has been briefed by the minister and the IGP is bringing him tomorrow not in capacity of IGP but in capacity of former DG of immigration,” Aping said.
Gen. Majur was appointed in a presidential decree on 26 January 2024.
He succeeded Gen. Atem Marol Biar who was appointed Inspector General of Police by President Kiir in November 2023.
