"We Dare where others fear"

The Governor of Lakes State Rin Tueny Mabor on Friday assured political parties of freedom to campaign and mobilize support ahead of the December 2024 general election.
He revealed these remarks while meeting the state Chairperson of the National Election Commission (NEC), Prof. Khot Kuocnin and Kwame Dwamena Aboagye the head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) field office in Rumbek and a visiting delegation from the African union (AU), IGAD, R-JMEC and UNDP.
“There is political space for other parties to conduct their rallies during campaign, the state is not worried for political parties since Lakes state is the stronghold of the SPLM party,” Mabor said.
He also confirmed that the civil population in the state is eager to participate in the upcoming elections.
Mabor also urged the national government and the international community to avail funds for the general election.
He assured that they will provide office space for the State National Election Commission in order for it to run it’s operation in the State.
Kwame Dwamena Aboagye, head of UNMISS field office in Rumbek said that the purpose of the visit of the high-level delegation was aimed at assessing preparations in the state ahead of the elections.
