President Kiir assures South African Envoy of credible elections

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday assured the South African Envoy Mahlodi Sam Muofh that his government will hold free, fair and credible elections In December 2024.

According to a statement posted on the presidential press unit Facebook page, President Kiir discussed with Mahlodi Sam Muofh about preparations for the general elections.

The South African envoy also delivered a message of goodwill from President Cyril Ramaphosa, to President Kiir.

He said that the electoral process will pave way for a democratic transition for the people of South Sudan.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) last year nominated President Kiir as it’s flag bearer in the elections. First Vice President Riek Machar who leads the SPLM-IO is expected to challenge President Kiir for the presidency.
