South Sudan, Norwegian Envoy discuss peace implementation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. James Pitia Morgan and the Norwegian Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Jon Anton Johnson held on Monday discussion on the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. James Pitia Morgan and the Norwegian Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Jon Anton Johnson held on Monday discussion on the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan.

According to the statement published on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the upcoming elections and the implementation of the peace agreement, focusing on the unification of forces for security arrangements.

It disclosed that Minister Morgan emphasized that the roadmap for the implementation of the peace agreement has a two-year lifespan, which is currently progressing well.

He also highlighted that the National Election Commission has been sworn in, indicating positive progress.

For his part, Jon Anton Johnson, the Special Envoy to for Sudan and South Sudan, said that the meeting involved a productive exchange on the country’s development, with a particular focus on the upcoming elections.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of implementing the peace agreement, specifically the security arrangements to ensure a conducive environment for the elections.
