SPLM Youth League sensitizes youth on dangers of communal violence in Warrap state

The Acting Chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Youth League in Warrap State has advised youth in the state to refrain from taking part in communal violence.

 Manyual Marou Akot, the Acting Chairperson of the SPLM Youth League in Warrap State told The Dawn on Tuesday that they are engaging youth to promote peace and reconciliation in the state.

His remarks came in the aftermath of clashes on Monday between youth Warrap state and Western Bahr El Ghazal state over the disputed Manyang and Nyin Akok areas separating the two states.

The clashes in Tharkueng market between Apuk community of Gogrial East County in Warrap state and Marial Wau of Jur River County in Western Bhar El Ghazal state, left 15 people killed and several others wounded.

Marou appealed to the youth in Warrap State and across the country to vote for the SPLM party in the upcoming general election in December 2024 if they are to secure their future.

 The fighting between the two communities over the disputed areas of Manyang and Nyin Akok first erupted in August 2023.
