Vatican senior official Cardinal Michael Czerny during his visit to South Sudan has advised youth to contribute nation building.

Czerny who is prefect of Vatican Dicastery for Integral Human Development made this call on Friday as he wrapped up his seven-day visit to South Sudan on Friday.

“The most important thing I think for young people in this country is accept the fact and recognize the fact their own life and their own education and their own development is first and primary responsibility,” Czerny told journalists in Juba.

Czerny encouraged young people not to give up on preparing themselves to make real contribution to their societies.

“In another words even if opportunities are few, difficulties are great and facilities are poor that doesn’t mean young people should give up educating themselves and preparing themselves to make real contribution to their societies,” Czerny said.

“To react with violence with despair is to betray ones country and to betray ones faith and to betray one’s self, so I would not only encourage but challenge young people to take the future into their hands and make first essential step which is to prepare themselves to contribute,” he added.
