Over 4780 learners pass primary leaving examinations in Lakes state

At least 4788 have passed the certificate of primary exams in Lakes State out of the total of 4960 pupils who attended the exams in 2023.

At least 4788 have passed the certificate of primary exams in Lakes State out of the total of 4960 pupils who attended the exams in 2023.

 Nelson Makoi Makur, the Lakes State Minister for General Education and Instruction on Wednesday said that the worst performed subjects are English and Mathematics.

“We will look for qualified teachers for these particular subjects in order to improve performance next year,” Makur said during the release of the exam results in Rumbek town.

Gabriel Maluac Yak, the Acting Director General for the State Ministry of General Education and Instruction said that the number of candidates increased following the introduction of free education by the national government in 2023 compared to 4,103 pupils who sat in 2022.

The State Secretary for Examination Barnaba Abbuod Athian praised the learners, teachers, parents and security personnel for their cooperation during exams.

 132 pupils failed the exams failed the 2023 primary leaving examinations in Lakes State.
