The Governor of Lakes State and also Chairman of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the State Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor has called upon all SPLM county chairpersons to disseminate messages of peace across the State.

“As a movement and a party, we are going for elections and the number one requirement of an election is peace, yes there are excuses from many people that the country will slip into war and there are conflicts in the states; we in Lakes State do not have conflict whether in or outside the state. Yes, there are skirmishes but they are under control. We assure the national secretariat, our chairman and his deputies that we are in peace and ready for elections in Lakes State,” Mabor said in a statement published on the Facebook page the Lakes state Governor’s Press Unit on Friday.

He said these remarks while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of Mangar Machuol Malok, Mabor Deng Buoth as SPLM County Chairpersons of Rumbek East and Rumbek North Counties respectively.

John Awan Parpiny was also sworn in as Awerial County SPLM Secretary.

The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Moulana Kaman Bol.

Lt. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor urged the chairpersons to disseminate and implement terms of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement in the counties.

He also directed the SPLM chairpersons of the counties to mobilize and sensitize members of the SPLM that the general election will take place to end the bloated transitional government once and for all.
