"We Dare where others fear"
Mobile and internet network provided by telecom companies remains poor across the country.
The ongoing two-day conference being attended by state officials and mobile telecom operators should come up with solutions to improving network coverage.
Some of the conflict-prone states such as Warrap State, Jonglei, Pibor and Abyei Administrative Area still lack stable mobile network and this has cutoff communication which disrupts humanitarian response.
The communication black out in some of these places has also exacerbated insecurity.
The National Communication Authority (NCA) should liaise with all telecom companies to ensure that mobile and internet coverage is extended to rural areas of the country.
As the country prepares for the general election scheduled for December 2024, the importance of communication is very vital to facilitate movement and services.
One can imagine communication black out facilitating electoral malpractices such as vote rigging, ballot stuffing and violence.
Therefore, mobile network coverage should cover the entire country in order not to exclude a huge part of the population from participating in the upcoming electoral process.
