Easy Travel and Tours Limited Company on Thursday asked Juba County Court to put caveat on the bank account of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) until the case brought against it has been disposed.

Peter Dau Akolthon, the lawyer representing Easy Travel and Tours Limited while presenting his argument before court said that failure to block the said bank account would give leeway to the defendant (SSFA) to withdraw all the money on it’s account.

The two parties are contesting over money owed to Easy Travel and Tours Limited, when it booked air tickets for Almerrelhk FC team to Lusaka, Zambia on November 22nd, 2018 and air tickets for Amarat FC to Tunisia on August 8, 2019.

Akolthon said that the air tickets were paid on behalf of SSFA by Easy Travel and Tour Limited.

“The bills have accumulated and we tried to engage them (SSFA) peacefully to pay before coming to court, we made a demand notice asking South Sudan football Association to honor the agreement to make sure they pay the debt to my client but to no avail,” Akolthon said.

Akolthon revealed that the agreement between Easy Travel and SSFA was running from late 2017 till 2023, adding that the contract was for Easy Travel to facilitate travels for staff, coaches and players of the SSFA.

“The SSFA has accepted the bill directly meant for their staff, yet there is a commitment and a guarantee letter from the same SSFA informing Easy Travel in the event that clubs fail to submit their payment to them then they are going to take responsibility,” he said.

Akolthon said that his client was pushed to ask court to block the account of SSFA after it delayed to pay the outstanding money it owes his client.

“Today, we made an application to the Juba County Court to attach the account of South Sudan Football Association until the final verdict,we are afraid if the account of SSFA is not blocked, any money that maybe sent to that account can be withdrawn and when the judgement comes there maybe delay in execution,” he said.

Akolthon revealed that the SSFA owes his client a total of 126,546 U.S dollars.

Easy Travel and Tour Company filed the case against the SSFA in October 2023.

The next court hearing has been scheduled on March 21, 2024.
