Plan International on Wednesday donated start-up capital worth 3.82 million South Sudanese Pounds to 270 trainees who underwent three -month training in business, driving, agriculture production, crop and vegetable production, livestock management and computer skills.
Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit, the State Minister of Cabinet Affairs said during the graduation ceremony held in Rumbek town that the beneficiaries will be able to setup small businesses in Wulu and Rumbek central Counties.
Deng urged the beneficiaries to utilize the knowledge acquired efficiently.
The State Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, William Koji Kirjok praised Plan International, World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for facilitating the training of youth.
The State Minister for General Education and Instruction, Nelson Makoi Makur urged Plan International to increase the training period from three to nine months, adding that this would help the trainees to acquire practical skills.
The Coordinator of Livelihood Incubation Program for Plan International in Rumbek field office, Deng Dhieu said that they plan to increase the money to 15 million SSP for the beneficiaries.
