Turkiye donates food to 7000 returnees in Bilnyang

The Turkish Embassy in South Sudan with funding from Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Thursday donated 1000 packages of food to 7000 returnees in Bilnyang area of Central Equatoria State.

The Turkish Embassy in South Sudan with funding from Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Thursday donated 1000 packages of food to 7000 returnees in Bilnyang area of Central Equatoria State.

Erdem Mutaf, the Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan said during the donation ceremony that the money used to buy the food items such as maize and rice was mobilized by TIKA.

 “The first and foremost mandate of the Turkish Embassy is to help the needy people in South Sudan. The assistance is the symbol of the Turkish nation’s support and solidarity with the people of South Sudan,” said Mutaf.

Mutaf said that the distribution was made possible through the coordination of TIKA and Concern South Sudan headed by First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit.

 “over the last 3 years  in the country, myself and my colleagues travelled nearly all the states in South Sudan and brought the Turkish helping hand to many areas and societies through humanitarian, capacity building, women empowerment and childcare projects,” he said.

Mutaf also said that the timing of the food distribution came at important movement after the First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit visited Bilnyang four months ago prior to prepare ground for the ceremony.

The food distribution ceremony was attended by Mary Ulang, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Concern South Sudan, Abdullah Sarı the TİKA Representative, the Chief of Bilnyang area and Emin Bent the CEO of Hatay Holding as well as the beneficiary families.
