Government approves report on promotion of investment in tourism

The cabinet on Friday approved the report tabled by Rizik Zachariah Hassan the Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism which aims to promote investment in tourism in the country.

The cabinet on Friday approved the report tabled by Rizik Zachariah Hassan the Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism which aims to promote investment in tourism in the country.

“We listened to a report from the Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, Lt.Gen. Rizik Zachariah Hassan on the roundtable meeting in Cairo Egypt from 11-12 November 2023, after deliberations they came up with resolutions that were to the benefit of countries concerned and the report was also commended and approved,” said Michael Makuei Lueth, the Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services while briefing journalists after the cabinet meeting in Juba.

Makuei revealed that the roundtable meeting in Egypt was held under the theme: “Enhancing sustainable tourism in Africa and air connectivity in intra -Africa tourism development and the role of women and SMEs in driving African tourism forward and promoting tourism investment opportunities”.

In January 2024, the Minister for Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, Rizik Zakaria Hassan signed a partnership agreement with Cuthbert Ncube, the President of the African Tourism Board to boost the country’s tourism prospects.

Makuei also disclosed that the Minster for Presidential Affairs, Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro briefed the cabinet on the visit of President Salva Kiir Mayardit to Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi, adding that the President will soon visit the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 “The objective of these visits is to close the gaps because there was tension between these countries, the President went there in order to reduce the tension, he managed to bring the situation down,” he said.
