The Governor of Central Equatoria state Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Monday held meeting with Juba City Council  authorities in a bid to minimize and regulate the construction of fuel stations in residential areas around the city.

This comes in the wake of the explosion on Sunday night at a fuel station in Gumbo suburb of Juba causing damage to property.

Angelo Daya, the Security and Peace Advisor for Central Equatoria State said that Governor Adil has formed a committee to inspect fuel stations around Juba.

“The meeting basically focused on issues to do with fuel stations constructed without proper documentation within the City Council, the committee formed by the Governor will revisit and identify fuel stations in residential areas,” Daya told journalists in Juba.

“The fuel companies have to be advised immediately and those who leased their own places out to the companies that erected fuel station are advised from now onward not to have any agreement,” he said.

Daya also cautioned people to refrain from encroaching on public roads.

He said that Juba City Council will work to identify illegal fuel stations, adding that whoever has no license must respect the city council to smoothly run their business.

“There are people who decided to move out and start constructing, the government of Central Equatoria State and the Juba City Council will definitely identify those areas and give notifications to the owners of these fuel stations,” said Daya.
