"We Dare where others fear"

The undersecretary for the National Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, James Francis on Wednesday said that the government will continue to pursue programmes and activities that seek to empower women and girls.
“The level of support and the political will to empower women is great, as government, we are all working very hard to ensure that we have opportunities to empower our women, said Francis during the opening of the two-day workshop at Pyramid Hotel.
He said that the government has registered significant progress in women’s empowerment through various measures introduced by the government, adding that his ministry will establish a women’s desk towards the empowerment of women.
“When we have two genders involved in development then we have a lot of development, one of the mandates of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is to empower women in politics and we are establishing a women’s desk,” he said.
Rukaya Mohammed, the deputy country representative of UN Women said there is a need to support women and gender equality, adding that there is a need to empower women to achieve the 35 per cent affirmative action
Stephen Par Kuol, the national Minister of Peacebuilding said women’s leadership is not only about political leadership but to see women participating in all structures of leadership across South Sudan.
“We have not yet made progress, the peace in South Sudan, it does not necessarily be political power, with women in leadership, there will be peace, development, love, unity and stability,” said Kuol.
