"We Dare where others fear"

The Executive Director for Africa Democracy and Resilience Network, Wani Stephen Elias has asked the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) to deliberate and enact the environmental bill to help mitigate the impacts of environmental pollution.
“We urge the parliament to look at the environmental bill because that bill will help to mitigate environmental pollution, we want to have South Sudan with safe and healthy environment for the wellbeing of the citizens,” Elias told The Dawn in an interview on Friday in Juba.
Elias revealed that the environment bill envisions a policy that would ensure the protection and conservation of the environment and also the sustainable management of its renewable natural resources
He also disclosed that Paloch in Upper Nile State is heavily polluted by oil extraction, adding that South Sudan needs climate responsive policy to help guide it’s development partners and stakeholders in taking care of the environment.
“In South Sudan, we are facing heatwave as a result of global warming and the aspect of environmental conservation is very poor, our major interest is to draw the attention of stakeholders in matters related to climate change,” Elias said.
