CEPO initiates dialogue between military and civilians in Yei

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) on Friday conducted a dialogue between military and civilians in the Lasu centre of Yei River County of Central Equatorial State.

The Three- day civil-military dialogue aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two groups.

Speaking during the opening of the workshop, Commissioner of Yei River County, Aggrey Cyrus said the dialogue will restore order and peace in Lasu.

“The dialogue will restore order and peace in Lasu and it will also help to resolve the pertinent differences between the civilians and the military,” he said.

John Malish Scopas, the Project Officer for CEPO said the dialogue was organized to improve and strengthen the relationship between the civilians and the military, adding that it aims at attracting voluntary and peaceful return of internally displaced persons and refugees in neighboring from Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

Pastor Amule, a member of the mediation team appealed to the parties to let go of the bitter past and start a new life.

“Forget the past and forgive you for peace, security and stability to prevail in Lasu Payam,” Amule said.
