The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of South Sudan Peter Bol Arok has retired seven senior priests after clocking the mandatory 65 years of age.

Arok said the aging pastors from seven dioceses were retired in accordance with the church laws.

“So retirement is not a must but it is your age which tells you to go. They are seven pastors from different dioceses. We have seven dioceses,” he told The Dawn in an interview on Sunday after prayers at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sherikat, suburb of Juba.

“According to the rules of the Anglican Church, when you reach 65, you retire and it is not by force but your age tells you to go down,” he disclosed.

Arok said that any pastor who clocks 65 years in service should retire and take rest.

He disclosed that he himself is remaining with five years to retire.

Arok appreciated the retired priests for their long service to the church.
