University of Upper Nile receives donations of medical equipment

 Mamour Chuol Turuk, the Vice Chancellor for the University of Upper Nile said during the donation ceremony that the medical equipment will improve the performance of medical students.

“We thank you for this generous gifts, it is not small it is a big contribution, what you have shown today is a sense of taking responsibility of education, it is a gesture of humanity and willingness to help,” said Turuk.

“This contribution of TIKA is meaningful because you have given your heart to serve this nation in whatever capacity that you have, we are looking forward for more collaboration between the University and TIKA,” he added.

Abdullahi Sira, TIKA’s Country Project Coordinator said that the donation of medical equipment stems from the meeting Gabriel Changson Chang, the National Minister of Higher Education had with Erdem Mutaf, the Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan.  

“I hope this medical equipment will improve education, the quality of medical students and also to improve TIKA and University relations and Turkish and South Sudanese people relations,” said Sira.

Wilson Bech Majok, the Chairperson of Medical students Association at the University of Upper Nile said that the request for medical equipment was tabled in October 2023.

 “The request was made to TIKA in October last year, we thank TIKA for their immediate response, this donation of medical equipment is going to help the students in the faculty of medicine to improve on their performance,” said Majok.

Erdem Mutaf, the Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan said that the donation is part of the Turkish government’s effort in building the capacity of the Medical Students Association of the University of Upper Nile.

 “I thank TIKA very much for allocating their resources for the University of Upper Nile on this occasion. Today, the donation of medical equipment to the faculty of medicine should be considered as a capacity building project in education,” said Mutaf.

 “Actually, this donation and assistance will be instrumental in creating the capacity of medical students in the University of Upper Nile,” he added.
