Lakes State authorities on Tuesday completed the renovation of a historic shrine “Luak Makuer Gol” which houses spiritual gods that give rain and blessings to the natives.
Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit, the state minister for cabinet affairs said while attending the renovation of the shrine which has been in existence since the 1960s, that the spiritual gods play the same roles as any other religious institution.
He said that spiritual gods play important roles in bringing peace, happiness and blessings to the population of Lakes State.
Mathiang said that the people of Rumbek Central County will live in peace together with their neighbours.
Majok Anhiem Dhal, state minister of finance said that the government is ready to support the existence of the local spiritual shrine “Luak Makuer Gol”.
For his part, Deer Makuer Gol, the senior spear master and also executive chief of Jiir Payam of Rumbek Central County congratulated the government officials for attending the last day of the renovation of the shrine.
