Presidential guard commander dismisses report of his arrest

The commander of the presidential guard unit commonly known as Tiger Division, Gen. Lual Wek Gum has dismissed media reports claiming he is under detention after slapping Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Programs, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel during a security meeting.

The commander of the presidential guard unit commonly known as Tiger Division, Gen. Lual Wek Gum has dismissed media reports claiming he is under detention after slapping Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Programs, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel during a security meeting.

“I am currently in Military headquarters in Bilpam and the rumours circulating on social media are false, I have neither slapped anybody nor arrested and I have not done anything and anybody spreading the news about my arrest is doing it at his or her own risk and he is the only one who knows what he is doing and as I speak with you now I am in Bilpam in the office of Chief of Defense Force,” Wek said in a video clip making rounds on social networks where he appears alongside SSPDF spokesman, Gen. Lul Ruai Koang at the military headquarters in Bilpam.

A social media report claimed that Gen. Wek, popularly known as Lual Maroldit was arrested after slapping Presidential Advisor for Special Program, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel during a security meeting.
