"We Dare where others fear"

A former mobilizer of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In Opposition (SPLM-IO) on Monday said he will not rescind his decision to quit the party led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar.
Makur Abur Anei who was an official at the Anti-Corruption Commission in Warrap State is now one of the key mobilizers of defections from the opposition camp into the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.
On April 4, he was relieved in a presidential decree from his position but a separate decree reappointed him to the same position on the same SPLM-IO ticket.
“I was relieved because I left the SPLM-IO and the reason they reappointed me, I don’t know,” Anei told The Dawn in Juba.
“When I called them, they only said we are going to replace you on Monday but rumors say those people just do not want to relieve me,” he said.
“To me, I have left the IO and will not go back and if they continue playing with my name, I will sue them in court.”
Anei cited corruption as one reason which made him abandon the group.
“The main one is corruption which I cannot be part of, as a member of the anti-corruption commission,” he said.
“The sharing of responsibilities is not equal right from the States to the national government,” he said, adding that, “in SPLM, at least positions are distributed equally at the States and at the national level and this is the kind of party I want to work for.”
