President Kiir shakes up ministry of foreign affairs

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday relieved the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, James Pitia Morgan and replaced him with his deputy Ramadan Mohamed Abdallah Goc Ayuel.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday relieved the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, James Pitia Morgan and replaced him with his deputy Ramadan Mohamed Abdallah Goc Ayuel.

The changes followed a decree aired on State Television (SSBC), in which reassigned James Pitia Morgan as his Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region.                                                          

In other changes, Kiir appointed Mande Semaya Kenneth Kumba as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who hitherto had served as the South Sudan envoy to the People’s Republic of China, Malaysia and Australia

Kiir also relieved the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mayen Dut Wol replacing him with John Samuel Bwogo.

Wol is appointed South Sudan’s envoy to the People’s Republic of China with the aim of strengthening the existing bilateral cooperation between the two sisterly countries.

 No reasons were given for the changes within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

James Pitia Morgan, who once served as South Sudanese Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in August 2023, replacing Deng Dau Deng.
