Gender inclusivity and ethnic diversity is spot on in the central bank

The Bank of South Sudan is undergoing transformation that should inspire other key government institutions to follow the blueprint.

Ever since, James Alic Garang was appointed to head the central bank; there has been massive transformation of the apex bank in terms of gender inclusivity and ethnic diversity.

Under his watch, the morale and performance of the staff has been enhanced. For example, Alic increased the number of deputy governors and this has ensured gender equality, ethnic diversity and also he has since promoted a good number of long -serving staff who had never been promoted to positions above.

The central bank has on it’s board of directors, a youthful member in Alangi Stephen Ogut, a novice who emerged best during interviews due to her competence.

The central bank leadership has also moved to expand branches across the States, in a bid to extend services closer to the local people without need to travel all the way to Juba.

It’s such determined leadership that South Sudan’s rating in the international capitals is slowly improving. This is largely due to having a competent leadership at the helm of the central bank.

If given enough support and time, Alic is capable of transforming not only the fortunes of the bank but also the economy.
