The Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) on Monday rescinded summons it had issued last week compelling four ministers to appear for questioning over the worsening food insecurity in Mayom County of Unity State.
The ministers that had been summoned on May 7 include, Awow Daniel Chuang, the minister of finance and planning, Albino Akol Atak, the minister of humanitarian affairs and disaster, and Puot Kang Chol, the minister of petroleum and William Anyuon Kuol, the minister of trade and industry.
Oliver Mori Benjamin, the TNLA spokesperson confirmed to journalists in Juba, that these ministers will no longer appear before MPs for questioning.
He disclosed that the presidency which includes the president and the five vice presidents is a collegial body which cannot be summoned, according to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement.
‘’The agreement being supreme has made it very clear, the presidency which is constituted of the president and the five vice presidents cannot be summoned by the parliament, this is the resolution which is passed unanimously by all members of the TNLA,’’ Benjamin said.
All these ministries fall under the economic cluster headed by James Wani Igga, the Vice President for Economic Cluster.
In a similar development Benjamin also revealed that the house passed the Accountability Act to the third reading stage.
