"We Dare where others fear"

The State government of Warrap has condemned a fatal attack on Luanyjang community in Tonj East County.
“Five innocent civilians have been killed and ten others sustained gunshot injuries in Luacjang Tonj East when suspected armed youth from Pakam Rumbek North and Nuer Adol of Panyijar of Unity State carried out conjunctional attacks on Luacjang cattle camps in Anguoth, Malek and Ajakdul respectively,” Warrap State Information Minister, William Wol Mayom said in a statement yesterday.
Mayom said the perpetrators of the violence are suspected to have descended from Rumbek North of Lake state and Panyijar county of Unity state.
“We strongly condemn the persistent attacks on Luacjang community and Warrap State Government is committed to peaceful settlement. Our condolences to the bereaved families and we urge Luacjang Community to remain calm,” he said.
Mabior Makuach, the police spokesperson for Police in Lakes State however said the police fraternity is not aware of the deadly attack in Luanyjang.
Mayom said the intention of the attack on Luanyjang community was cattle raiding.
“The attackers were detected by Luacjang cattle owners at a distance promptly and were advancing to attack with the intention to raid but the attackers were reverted while the cattle owners retrieved from the hotspot to avoid further casualties,” he said.
