James Ayot Lual on Monday announced his candidacy for the position of chairperson for South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU), setting the stage for a potentially historic leadership bid.
“I pledge a transformative agenda that prioritizes the youth empowerment, education and employment of our youth among others,” Ayot said during press conference held in Juba.
SSNYU is expected to conduct its third convention on 22nd to 24th May to elect new leadership.
Ayot said that if entrusted with leadership, he will champion a transformative agenda that prioritizes youth empowerment and employment.
“If entrusted with the position of chairman, I pledge to uphold the values of integrity, democracy, accountability, employment, inclusivity and dedication to serve the interest and to the advancement of our youth,” he said.
Ayot said he intends to unite youth under one leadership for peaceful coexistence.
“I aim to foster a culture of collaboration, where the diverse voices and talents of our youth are celebrated and harnessed to drive sustainable development and positive change across our nation,” he disclosed.
“I firmly believe that working together and harnessing the collective potentials of our youth, we can overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and build a prosperous future for South Sudan youth,” Ayot added.
In December 2019, the second national convention of the youth body elected Gola Boyoi Gola, as its leader replacing Dr. Albino Bol Dhieu.
Gola is the current Chief Administrator of Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).
